Bryan is a proud native son of the Buckeye State. He was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and attended The Ohio State University where he earned his undergraduate degree and received his law degree from The University of Akron School of Law.
Most notable, Bryan will be celebrating his 6-year anniversary with BMD. He started with BMD as a clerk of the Summer Associate Program and following a successful summer, he was hired to practice in the Healthcare and Labor + Employment areas in our Akron office.
Over the past several years, Bryan’s practice has grown exponentially. His healthcare practice focus is primarily contract disputes involving government and private payers, guidance concerning payer audits, administrative appeals, board investigations and suspensions and fraud/abuse disputes. His labor and employment practice focus is on day-to-day guidance on matters from the FLSA, FMLA/ADA, to state and federal discrimination laws, including client hiring/firing decisions and matters relating to non-compete and confidentiality protection.
Embracing BMD’s entrepreneurial spirit and his own interest in music, Bryan recognized a need in the thriving local music scene for quality legal representation. He has started working on a Creative Consulting Legal Group within BMD to advise musicians, writers and artists in areas such as contract drafting, negotiations, estate planning and copyright/trademark issues. It is his desire to assist clients in both resolving current issues as well as help them achieve their own goals.
Bryan’s plate is certainly full, but he finds time to enjoy snowboarding, playing the guitar, traveling and running.
We asked Bryan to name one skill every lawyer should have. His answer:
“I believe every lawyer should be able to explain a complex legal question or issue in a simple and concise manner. This assists not only with client communication, but it also greatly enhances legal writing and conveyance to judges and juries.”
