BMD Client Spotlight: Medicaid Provider Status Approved for Mission-Driven Brigid’s Path
Client HighlightBMD is proud to celebrate another major milestone for our longtime client Brigid’s Path, Ohio’s first residential infant recovery center supporting babies born exposed to addictive substances and their families.
In 2023, our original client spotlight detailed the groundbreaking legislative work that resulted in the passage of Ohio’s Caring Recovery for Infants and Babies (CRIB) Act, establishing the intent for permanent funding for Brigid’s Path.
Medicaid Provider Status Achieved
We are now thrilled to share the successful culmination of a decade of work and perseverance: the Ohio Department of Medicaid has officially approved Brigid’s Path’s application to become a Medicaid provider.
This achievement marks a significant step toward the organization’s long-term financial stability and its continued ability to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to infants and families affected by substance exposure.
Expanding Stability: Funding for Family Case Management
In addition, Brigid’s Path recently completed its site survey for CARF accreditation, the first step toward certifying its case management services through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Once finalized, this certification will allow Brigid’s Path to bill Medicaid for family case management services as well, ensuring sustainable funding for its holistic model of care.
A Decade of Partnership and Perseverance
This success story has been more than ten years in the making and reflects the deep partnership between Brigid’s Path and BMD’s Columbus Team. Brigid’s Path was Member Daphne Kackloudis’s first client when she joined BMD, and she has worked closely with the organization’s founder, Jill Kingston, since the organization’s inception, providing ongoing legal and strategic guidance that has been critical to the organization’s growth.
As Jill shared, “Shout out: Thank you, Daphne, who has never left my side and guided me every step of the way.”
Key contributors supporting this work include Former BMD Partner Ashley Watson, who serves on Brigid’s Path’s Board of Directors; Attorney Jordan Burdick; Former BMD Attorney Kevin Cripe; Member Brandon Pauley; Office Managing Partner David Scott; and Partner Krista Osterfeld. Paralegal Karla Fish offered consistent support throughout the entire decade.
BMD is honored to continue supporting Brigid’s Path as it reaches this new chapter, paving the way for sustainable, community-based infant recovery care across Ohio.
