Overview
Travis Brown represents companies in high-stakes investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation brought by state attorneys general, multistate coalitions, and federal regulators. He provides practical, business-aligned guidance in matters involving consumer protection, financial services, fintech, digital advertising, privacy, and unfair or deceptive trade practices. Travis also handles complex business disputes and fiduciary litigation across the country.
Travis spent more than seven years with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, where he served as lead counsel on major enforcement matters and, for three years, led the State’s consumer financial services investigations and litigation. His work included matters involving lending practices, loan servicing, credit reporting and credit-practices issues, subscription and recurring-billing models, data-handling failures, internet and social media marketing, and other deceptive or unfair trade practices. He regularly coordinated multistate investigations, collaborated with federal agencies, and negotiated significant resolutions with national impact.
In private practice, Travis defends companies across the country in AG and FTC investigations, other regulatory inquiries, and complex civil litigation. He represents fintech firms, subscription-based businesses, lenders, marketing platforms, and data-driven companies, advising on compliance frameworks, marketing and disclosure risk, product-launch assessments, and rapid-response strategy when enforcement exposure becomes imminent.
Travis also handles complex commercial and fiduciary disputes in state and federal courts across the country. He serves as first-chair trial counsel in disputes involving contracts, business torts, breaches of fiduciary duty, shareholder and governance conflicts, and complex trust and estate matters. His litigation experience strengthens his regulatory practice by positioning clients for success whether a matter resolves quietly or proceeds through contested litigation.
Clients rely on Travis for his strategic clarity, regulator-side insight, and ability to navigate complex regulatory and litigation challenges with discretion and efficiency. He is admitted in Florida and Tennessee and represents clients nationwide.
